Fast‑track permanent residency for in‑demand trades professionals through Canada’s Express Entry system.

Federal Skilled Trade (FST)

Canada’s Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is a dedicated immigration stream under the Express Entry system, designed for experienced tradespeople who want to become permanent residents. If you work in a skilled trade such as construction, electrical work, or manufacturing — and meet the eligibility criteria — the FSTP offers a direct and efficient pathway to settle in Canada permanently.

Who Qualifies?

  1. Experience: ≥ 2 years full‑time skilled trade work in the last 5 years
  2. Language: CLB 5 (speaking & listening) | CLB 4 (reading & writing)

  3. Credential:Either a 1‑year full‑time Canadian job offer or a provincial/territorial trade certificate

  4. Location: Plan to live outside Quebec

  5. Trades: NOC TEER 2–3 (e.g., welders, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, bakers)

How It Works

  1. Create an Express Entry profile.
  2. Get ranked by the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) on age, education, language, and experience.
  3. Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in FSTP‑specific draws.
  4. Submit medicals, police checks, and proof of trade credentials within 60 days.

Tip: A Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination adds 600 CRS points, virtually guaranteeing an ITA.

Why Choose the FSTP?

  1. Direct pathway to Canadian PR—no degree required

  2. Lower language thresholds than other streams

  3. Targets sectors with critical labour shortages (construction, manufacturing, maintenance, resources)
