CRS Score

The Express Entry system remains one of Canada’s most competitive pathways for skilled workers seeking permanent residence. Every month, thousands of candidates enter the Express Entry pool, hoping to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The latest Express Entry Pool Update July 2026 provides important insight into how candidates are distributed across different CRS Score ranges and what this means for future Express Entry draws.

According to the latest pool distribution released by IRCC, the total number of candidates in the Express Entry pool decreased from 239,645 candidates on June 21, 2026, to 235,127 candidates on July 5, 2026 — a reduction of 4,518 profiles.

This reduction indicates movement within the pool due to recent invitations, profile withdrawals, expirations, and new candidate entries.

What Does This CRS Score Distribution Mean for Candidates?

1. High CRS Score Pool Has Reduced

One of the biggest changes in the July 2026 update is the reduction of candidates in the higher CRS Score ranges.

The number of candidates between 501–600 CRS points decreased from 20,012 to 18,611, representing a reduction of 1,401 candidates.

Similarly:

  • 471–480 CRS range decreased by 1,120 candidates
  • 481–490 CRS range decreased by 1,043 candidates
  • 491–500 CRS range decreased by 476 candidates

This reduction may provide some relief for candidates waiting around the higher CRS ranges because fewer candidates are competing above them.

Candidates Between CRS 401–470 Continue to Increase

While higher CRS ranges declined, several mid-range CRS categories experienced growth.

The following increases were recorded:

  • CRS 401–410: +176 candidates
  • CRS 411–420: +255 candidates
  • CRS 421–430: +286 candidates
  • CRS 431–440: +147 candidates
  • CRS 441–450: +147 candidates
  • CRS 451–460: +251 candidates
  • CRS 461–470: +141 candidates

This shows that many candidates are entering the pool or improving their profiles and moving into competitive CRS ranges.

CRS Score Range Above 500 Remains Highly Competitive

Candidates with CRS Scores above 500 continue to represent a significant portion of the Express Entry pool.

As of July 5, 2026:

  • 18,611 candidates were between CRS 501–600
  • 525 candidates were between CRS 601–1,200

Although this number has decreased compared to June 21, competition remains strong because these candidates are generally among the highest-ranked profiles.

Recent Express Entry Draws Impacting the Pool

The changes in the CRS Score distribution were influenced by multiple Express Entry draws conducted during this period.

Between June 21 and July 5, 2026, IRCC issued invitations through different categories, including:

  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Healthcare and Social Services category
  • Physicians with Canadian Work Experience category

A total of 9,226 invitations were issued during this period, contributing to the overall decrease in the Express Entry pool size.

Following this period:

  • A Provincial Nominee Program draw issued 534 invitations with a CRS cutoff of 708.
  • A Canadian Experience Class draw issued 2,000 invitations with a CRS cutoff of 517.

What Should Express Entry Candidates Do Now?

The latest CRS Score update shows that simply waiting for the cutoff to decrease may not always be the best strategy.

Candidates should actively look for ways to improve their ranking.

Improve Language Scores

Language ability remains one of the strongest factors affecting CRS points.

Improving IELTS, CELPIP, or French language results can significantly increase your score.

Gain More Canadian Work Experience

Candidates with Canadian skilled work experience may improve their eligibility under programs such as the Canadian Experience Class.

Explore Provincial Nominee Programs

A provincial nomination remains one of the strongest ways to improve an Express Entry profile because it can significantly increase a candidate’s CRS ranking.

Check Category-Based Selection Eligibility

Candidates should review whether their background matches IRCC priority categories, including fields such as healthcare, trades, transportation, education, French-language proficiency, and other targeted areas.

Final Thoughts

The July 2026 Express Entry pool update shows a positive movement with the total pool size decreasing by 4,518 candidates.

The biggest reductions occurred among higher CRS Score ranges, particularly candidates above 470 points. However, competition remains strong, and candidates should continue improving their profiles rather than waiting for CRS cutoffs alone.
